  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Bianconeri boss made that revelation after seeing his side claim a 3-0 victory away at Lecce. McKennie thought he had found the target in that contest, only to see team-mate Dusan Vlahovic steal his effort by poking the ball in on the goal line.

    WHAT ALLEGRI SAID ABOUT MCKENNIE

Allegri would have liked to see McKennie claim some reward for his efforts, with the United States international taking in a scenic journey to the game. Allegri told : “McKennie is scared of flying, so he came here by train and perhaps it would’ve been better if he had scored.”

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

While McKennie was robbed of an opportunity to enjoy a personal high against Lecce, victory for Juve has seen Allegri hit a notable landmark. He has become, after Nereo Rocco and Giovanni Trapattoni, just the third manager to reach 300 career wins in Serie A. He added on hitting that target: “I am glad to have reached 300 wins, I can only thank all the players I worked with since I started in Serie A. I consider myself very fortunate, as I worked with some extraordinary players and it was a real pleasure to watch them.”

    WHAT NEXT FOR MCKENNIE?

Juventus, with McKennie making no secret of their ambition this season, have reached top spot in Serie A. They have played a game more than arch-rivals Inter, and hold a narrow one-point lead at the summit, but are looking to land a first domestic crown since 2019-20.
